Titan
Poker Review
If you happen to be familiar with Fair Poker, just
think of them if you want to get an idea about Titan Poker. Just from
looking at the structure of their websites, I thought they were run by the same
company perhaps. However, Fair Poker is run by Intercontinental Online
Gaming, a large company that also operates several well-known online casinos.
Titan Poker, on the other hand, does not disclose anybody behind the scenes.
That's the thing about Titan Poker - I kind of felt like they were holding back
a little. Right from the start I got annoyed because they have this logo
that says something along the lines of "Free 100% Bonus up to $500" I
clicked on it and it started downloading the software, which I was not ready to
do yet. I realize that this is a tactic that many online gambling sites
use to get players to download. However, I could not find any other
visible links on their main navigation menu that said anything about promotions.
Maybe it's just me, because upon further inspection later I could see a link,
albeit quite discreet, that listed all the available promotions...Speaking of
which:
PROMOTIONS
The big hoopla at Titan Poker is their 100% bonus up
to $500 Free on first-time depositors. However, don't be like me and get
all googly over this offer. Really, it is just a way of getting you to use
your comp points. Unlike at online casinos and some other poker rooms
which impose monetary wager requirements on their bonuses before they can be
cashed out, Titan Poker basically gives you what they call "Stars" (kind of
like comp points) for every raked hand you play. Depending on the table
stakes, the percentage of Stars you win varies. After accumulating a
large portion of stars, you are awarded a portion of your bonus, which
continues on in the same fashion until you have been awarded (in redeemable
"star money") 100% of your initial deposit. Don't get me wrong - this is
fine and dandy if you don't mind not having a comp program. Supposedly,
there is a Rewards Program coming soon - called iPoints. But for now, it's
stars or nothing.
ONLINE CASHIER
Like Fair Poker, the online cashier at Titan is very
efficient. Again, there is Live Support which is very friendly - although
not as charming as Jen over at Fair Poker (I think I have a crush)
However, all of the mainstream deposit systems are available and easy to set up
with step-by-step instructions.
SOFTWARE
The best part of Titan Poker for me
was their software. It is made by Playtech, and is probably the best
software online
right now. There are cool features that let you customize settings, as
well as take notes about other players. I use the note pad for it helps me
to remember who I might want to sit next to, or not play at the same table with.
The one thing that I am still baffled to this day is that their website
explicitly says they offer two playing modes - One from above (the most common)
and another 3D view that actually lets you see the facial expressions of other
players. I do know that the option is there - I just didn't look hard
enough. Honestly, I think I got too distracted looking at some of the hot
female avatars. The one in the red dress especially offers a fantastic
birds-eye view (Another good reason not to switch playing modes). The
action was pretty good though. I have to say that I was surprised to see
so many people gambling their at one time...more than enough for one to do some
serious scouting.
