Ultimate Bet Admits Malfunction
December
29, 2008
The online poker casino UltimateBet has expanded upon an earlier statement
that they made where they commented on incorrect payouts on poker games over
the weekend. Initially, they were not as clear about what had happened,
saying that there were preventative systems that the poker site had in place
that made sure that hand results were protected “against disconnections.”
However, they are now changing their tune.
It seems that there was indeed a Cereus software glitch in the poker problem
and 36 hands were affected by it. Paul Leggett, COO of the poker site, said
that they have had additional investigations into the payouts and now they
have “found logic in [their] code” that they have changed so that the error
cannot happen again.
They said that they reproduced what went on that day, and they have come to
the conclusion that had the disconnection happened “a millisecond sooner or
later” there would not have been any problems with any of the poker hands.
The test showed that 36 hands would have gotten incorrect payouts, and those
players have been reimbursed.
They say that they have run additional tests on the poker software and the
glitch seems to be fixed, but they will continue testing until they get a
satisfactory response. They are also looking over old records to see if this
has ever happened in the past, but so far they have not found anything.
Should they find anything amiss in other poker hands, they will be sure to
correct them and to reimburse those players.
