Big Poker Names
December 10, 2008
One of the biggest names in
poker is taking on another lesser known player, although just as exciting.
Phil Ivey is playing $500/$1,000 heads up No Limit Hold’em poker with
LarsLuzak.
Luzak is known for his aggressive style of poker playing, and he will be
trying to beat one of the most celebrated poker players out there today –
Phil Ivey. The pot is just under $100,000 – with both players trying their
best to take it.
They started the game with Luzak having almost 41bb and Ivey having a little
more than 400bb. Ivey is well known all over in the poker world, while Luzak
is well known as an online poker player, but initially seemingly not as
strong a player as Ivey is. Ivey was given the opportunity to take him on,
and jumped at the chance to play a different kind of poker battle.
The two poker players started officially with Luzak having $40,764 and Ivey
having $410,193. The game went back and forth with Ivey on top then Luzak
taking a $81,528 pot that just had to hurt. The hands play out with many
thinking that Ivey would take it with his pair of Aces and tens, but Luzak
takes it with three of a kind tens.
At this point, Ivey’s stack is still much larger than Lusak’s but he is
making a nice dent in it. We can only wait to see how the game plays out to
see who the winner will be.
