Another Online Player
Wins Seat to World Poker Tour
Every year at least one
new face appears at the forefront of World Poker Tour tournaments.
The latest nobody to rise from the hordes of other online poker
players wishing for a free seat to a WPT event, is the thirty-six
year old computer programmer from Canada, Ken Kafieh. Getting
in the action of a free roll tournament hosted by Pokerroom.com and
Poker Listings, Kafieh surprisingly had to beat out only fifty-five
other poker players.
According to Kafieh, he
got a boost of confidence when he realized how few players were
actually competing in the free roll. Add this on top of his
recent wins at a handful of consecutive Sit N'Go's in addition to
making the final table at some 1,000+ player tournaments and you
have one finely tuned poker player. However, Kafieh must keep in
mind that up until now he has been playing online poker, which poses
significantly different challenges than live games in person.
As for this last
tournament, Kafieh's performance won him an $15,300 seat at the
World Poker Tour event at the Bellagio Five Diamond. He also
receives travel and hotel accommodations paid in full, valued at
$3,200.
When questioned how he
felt going up against some of the world's best poker players, Kafieh
commented that in all truth he is intimidated. Although he
realizes he must not let that take control of him, he thinks that
having a healthy respect for the other players will definitely keep
him on his toes.
