Bonus Rake
Requirement Upped at Absolute Poker
Absolute Poker has updated its bonus structure which is to cover all
bonuses, including their 100% new member bonus for $200.
Additionally, existing players will have to go by the new structure
when they take advantage of reload bonuses also. Instead of
playing at least 100 raked hands that have a rake of $.25 or more
for every $10 in the bonus amount, the new structure will require
100 hands to be played with a rake of $.50 or more for every $10 in
the bonus amount. Whereas this will not affect players who
play with higher pot stakes, it will make it harder for players
gambling at lower stake games to cash their bonus out.
Considering that the bonus wager requirement must be met within
sixty days of obtaining it, playing at tables with stakes less than
$2 means that a whole lot of action will be necessary to get more
pots up to the $.50 rake size. On average, poker pots need to
be greater than $10 for the poker room to take a $.50 rake.
Anything under will likely be hit with the $.25 rake, which Absolute
was doing until now. It seems that too many players were
meeting the requirement, and that payouts were setting back profit
obtained from rake fees.
If players do the math, they will see that even if they are a medium
or high stakes gambler, they are not going to be able to cash out
their bonus overnight. To spell it out more clearly, the way
it works at Absolute, which incidentally, is the case at most online
poker rooms, is that players need to earn 100 points to cash out $10
of the bonus - And one point is awarded for every hand that is
played in a pot that receives a $.50 rake. For a $200 bonus,
that means a player needs to partake in 2,000 poker hands - each
with a $.50 rake - in order to cash out the full sum of the bonus.
For long-handed players, the hourly rate of hands played is
approximately 50, while short-handed players can expect to get in 70
poker hands in an hour online. At this rate, a short-handed
player will have to play for (2,000 ÷ 50) 40 hours. If
you are a dedicated player, 40 hours is not difficult at all to come
up with in an online poker room.
