Schaffel Comes in Eighth Place
November 27, 2009
The World Series of Poker is exciting to say the least, but when it comes
down to the final table the excitement cannot be held back. Poker players
from around the world were waiting to see who the first one would be that
was eliminated from the November Nine at the poker table’s final event. This
is easily one of the most anticipated events of the poker tournament
calendar, and players can’t wait to see who might go home eight million
dollars richer.
First one out was London poker professional James Akenhead – which surprised
many as they thought that he had a real chance at taking home the top prize.
He lost his hand to Kevin Schaffel, which knocked him out of the game in
ninth place. He was behind after two major losses, and could not make up the
poker loss. However, he did go home with $1.26 million, which is not a bad
place to be in.
Schaffel was the next one out, taking home eighth place and $1.3 million for
his troubles. His elimination made everyone else at the table another $36
million richer – and poker players are waiting to see who the next one might
be. Schaffel, of Coral Springs, Florida, lost to Buchman on an all in wager
of pocket kings.
Akenhead had actually hurt Buchman earlier in the day, only to see himself
eliminated by Schaffel. Then Buchman eliminated Schaffel – strangely enough.
Experts believe that poker playing being what it is that Buchman is expected
to be the next one eliminated – although it is really still too early to
tell.
