Poker Novel a Good Read
November 9, 2009
It doesn't matter who you are, a good book is a good book. You don't have
to believe in extraterrestrials in order to enjoy a science fiction book,
and you don't have to enjoy building in order to enjoy a how-to construct
something sort of book. The same goes for books on poker, for some of them
are very entertaining whatever your involvement in the game might be.
John Blowers has written a book called "Life on Tilt: Confessions of a Poker
Dad." The book is a self published novel and it actually came out a year ago
last May. But the book looks like it is about to become a Hollywood movie as
well. The poker professional has written several versions of the script for
the film before he turned it over to professional sportswriters who have
also had four rewrites. Blowers is a producer on the project, an adviser,
and will be in the film briefly.
The book is an amalgamation of Blowers biography which talks about how he
went from being a human resources executive to a poker professional. It is
also a actual story about a man who takes every risk in the book to try and
compete for a seat in the World Series of Poker. He says that the book is
really not about him becoming a poker player, but it is about taking risks
and becoming what you really want to be in life.
He says that although he loves poker and he is glad that he took the chances
that he took, it is much more about the journey than it is about the game.
Shannon Elizabeth, and other poker player, is also involved in the movie and
actually read the book between poker hands and has committed to the movie.
