High Stakes Poker
November 13, 2009
The popular poker show, “High Stakes Poker” is coming back. It has proven
to be very popular among poker players as they enjoy watching the show not
just for the game itself and the competition that they see, but also for the
tips and tricks that they pick up from watching it. There are some changes
in store for the poker show this time around now, starting with the fact
that they have a new host.
Their longtime host has been AJ Benza, but he was fired, leaving a gap where
a host should be. They have hired European Poker Tour Hostess Kara Scott in
his place, which concerned many poker players as they did not care for the
change in host. Then they announced that they would be pairing up with Poker
Stars for a sponsorship and players started to wonder if too many changes
were not necessarily good for the show. They were of the belief that “if it
isn’t broken, don’t fix it,” and were understandably concerned.
However, the poker show maintains that these changes will only cause to make
the show better than it was. They say that you will see a lot of the regular
poker players from previous seasons coming back to have a go at the game,
with some of them very familiar to any one, not just poker players.
Some of those returning say that they are excited by the change and are
looking forward to a new season. Those that are new to the game are British
Full Tilt Poker Professional Andrew Feldman, and reigning World Championship
of Online Poker (WCOOP) Winner and World Poker Championship Event winner
Yevegeniy “Jovial Gent” Timoshenko. There will also be 2008 November WSOP
Final Table Contender Dennis Phillips and record label owner Allan Metzler.
