Gustavson Takes Top Prize
November 29, 2009
Poker player Aaron Gustavson is the lucky winner of the European Poker
Tour London Poker Festival Main Event. Gustavson says that he is completely
thrilled and shocked at the same time, and cannot believe that he was lucky
enough to be the winner of the poker tournament. Many thought that he stood
a real chance of winning, although more thought for sure that Peter Eastgate
would take home the top title.
The poker tournament had a £5,300 buy in for their players, and it was the
largest game ever held in the United Kingdom. They had more than 730 players
from all over the world competing in the poker event, and London was a sea
of poker players during the event. The top prize was £850,000, which of
course went to Gustavson. He beat out Eastgate in a head to head poker
tournament, and Eastgate took home £530,000 for second place.
Gustavson was one of 149 poker players that actually won their seat through
Poker Stars, and is only 23 years old. He is an up and coming player – and
many think that he is bound to be a force to be reckoned with for many years
to come. Eastgate is a member of Team Poker Stars and has a long list of
accomplishments behind him, which is why many thought that he might take the
title.
The poker game was nothing if not exciting, and poker players from all over
the world watched with baited breath to see who might take home the win.
Starting immediately following a dinner break, the game took only seven
hands and fifteen minutes to finish.
