Poker Players Quit Amazing Race
November 27, 2009
Maria Ho and Tiffany Michelle were known as the poker girls on The
Amazing Race and a lot of poker players out there were rooting for them to
do well. However, they also managed to alienate a lot of people while they
were on the show – but now that the poker girls aren’t there any more people
are wondering where it all went wrong.
The poker girls get their name from the fact that they were the last women
standing int eh World Series of Poker Championship Events in 2007 and 2008.
Both are California girls as well - Ho is from Arcadia and Michelle is from
Los Angeles. With poker being such a male dominated arena and it truly being
difficult to win against them – many thought that this would be perfect
practice for them and that they might win the race. However, it was not to
be.
The poker girls were unable to complete the Detour portion of the race and
could not complete the two physical challenges in the Netherlands. They said
that they gave a lot of thought to quitting, and realized that they just
couldn’t do it anymore.
After the poker girls were eliminated, people wanted to know why the other
racers seemed to hate them as much as they did. However, the poker players
said that the only teams that seemed to have negative things to say about
them were the ones they didn’t really know. They said that they made great
friends with the other teams – the ones that lasted the longest on the show.
They said that these were going to be friends that they would have for the
rest of their lives.
