WPT Growing

The China Leisure Sports Administrative Center, CLSAC, chose WPT Enterprises, WPTE, as their commercial marketing partner in July of 2007. Since that time, the WPTE has managed to grow the poker industry in China incredibly fast. The WPT China National Traktor Poker Tour is now the first government sanctioned nationally televised poker competition in the country.

The poker marketer has also inked its first consumer product sponsor, and they are now in their second season of the poker tour. They have also recently gone on the internet with their mobile platforms in addition to the poker tour. All of this has happened in a very short amount of time – less than 16 months after it was created.

Traktor Poker is China’s most popular poker game, and by handling it the way they have they have created a cross platform business that is now centered around the WPT China National Traktor Poker Tour. They are showing them on Nanjing Entertainment Television in the Jiangsu province. They are also showing the poker tournament in other multiple provinces across the country.

Some think that by growing the poker tour the way they have, they may be hoping to open up China to the possibility of gambling. Right now, gambling is not allowed on the mainland, with it focused mainly in Macau. Some experts say that there is a good chance that they could be looking at expanding gambling and poker and that this is simply just the first step in that process.
