Harrah’s Thinks Poker has a Chance
November
15, 2008
It would seem that people are much more optimistic in the wake of an Obama
victory as it comes to online poker playing. Those same people are not so
hopeful when it comes to online gambling, but they say that poker is in a
class all by itself – which is kind of is.
They say that poker playing is a strategy game, and that many in Congress
already see it as such. Many of those that have a problem with legalizing
online gambling do not have a problem with online poker as they say that
they are two different heads of the same beast.
Gary Loveman, the Chairman and CEO for Harrah’s is among those that think
they stand a real chance at this. Loveman says that the odds for the
legalization of poker have just gotten much better for them even though they
have not gotten better for regular online gambling.
The company has a particular interest in online poker because of the fact
that they own the World Series of Poker Brand. With online poker legal, it
greatly increases their earning potential in the long run. They say that the
leaders of Congress could be convinced more easily to legalize and regulate
online poker than they could with online gambling.
They say that they are going to be working hard to getting poker legalized,
especially after the US Treasury Department just announced that they were in
the process of releasing and implementing the guidelines for the UIGEA.
