Ivy Top Weekend Earner
October 11, 2009
When people think about the game of poker there are certain names that
consistently come to mind. One of those of course is Phil Ivey. Ivey has
made a long and illustrious career of playing poker and so far has done very
well for himself. He is consistently one of the top earners each year from
professional poker playing, because he truly knows what he’s doing.
This past weekend was no different for him as he ended up being the top
earner for the weekend. Ivey was playing at the Full Tilt Poker high stakes
table game and walked away with a profit of $160,000 after only playing 37
hands. This is what you call not only a short game for the poker
professional, but obviously an easy one as well.
Other poker players did not fare too badly either, taking home anywhere from
$3000 on up to $117,000. The tournaments that the poker site was offering
had a nice flow of players, and most of the prize pools exceeded the
guarantee that the site had put forward. Ivey just managed to pick up the
lion’s share of wins.
The poker site ran the Sunday Brawl and had more than 2300 players register
for the tournament. The prize pool was then increased up to $462,000. First
place took home $94,000, second place took home $61,000, and third place
took home $45,000. They also had a $750,000 guaranteed poker tournament that
had more than 4000 players show up, with the top winner taking home
$141,000.
