Sometimes Even the Best Lose
October
28, 2008
People think that once you have made your name in the poker industry and no
one can beat you, and yet nothing could be further from the truth. No matter
how good you get at poker, there is always someone who seems to be able to
get the better hand, or keep it together enough so that they can take the
lead and win the chips.
That is why it is imperative that you always keep your wits about you when
playing poker. To assume that you are going to do better than the others is
not only arrogant, but dangerous when playing. Poker is a game that is part
luck, part skill – and if you don’t have one of those it is going to be
tough to win.
Sometimes you might think that you have it because you know the other
person’s hand. You can figure out what they have from how they are betting,
and sometimes that works very well for you to be able to win. But then there
are times where no matter what information you have, you still can’t close
the deal.
Professional poker players will tell you about times that they had the other
player’s hand figured out and they still lost because either they got cocky
or they just didn’t play it right. It is important to realize that no matter
how good someone is, they can still lose a game of poker.
