Celebrity Poker Event

The Joyner-Walker Foundation has announced their Par and Poker Celebrity
Challenge for Charity, which will be held on January 29th of next year. The golf
and poker event brings in lots of money for the charity, and is a unique event.
They are hosting it during Super Bowl Week in Tampa, Florida.
Tampa Bay Downs’ Silks Poker Room is going to host the No-Limit Texas Hold’em
poker tournament, which will follow the 18 hole golf tournament at TPC Tampa
Bay. This charity golf and poker event will bring in big names in the poker
industry, as well as other great names to play golf.
This poker tournament will grant three seats to the World Series of Poker,
making it the largest celebrity tournament in Tampa Bay history. The room holds
30 poker tables and fifty plasma TVs – which makes it perfect for this large
poker game.
Patrick Murphy, Director of Poker Operations for Tampa Bay Downs, said that
after meeting with the charity they realized their level of commitment and they
are “thrilled to be hosting a poker event that gives back so much in a fun and
entertaining way.”
Not all of the poker champions have been determined, but amateur ones are
signing up by the car load. They are all hoping to get a chance to play
alongside a professional, and perhaps even beat them at their own game.
