What a Piece of Work
September 30, 2009
To be quite blunt, what kind of a person goes somewhere where they are
not wanted and ruins an event for everyone else there? This is the case with
Abraham Korotki. Korotki felt as though he had the right to enter a ladies
only tournament because he was being discriminated against. He said that he
had the right to enter because it was discrimination for the casino to not
allow him to play poker in a roomful of women.
The women showed up at this ladies only event at the Borgata only to find
this guy sitting at the tables. Not only did he crash an event that he
should not have been at, but then he won it for ruining the day for all of
the women there. Who is this guy?
He took the $20,892 first-place prize, defeating Nicole Rowe in a heads up
competition. As they started playing the chip stacks were nearly equal and
owe offered to "chop" the pot which basically means they would split the
first and second place awards. Rowe needed the money to help her pay for her
living expenses while she recovers from breast cancer surgery. However
Korotki refused to participate in the split and ended up winning the pot.
Rowe took home $11,889 for finishing second, which was not enough to cover
the surgery. Korotki said that he was going to donate his winnings to
charity, but would not give the name of the charity that he would be
donating them to.
