A Good Way to Make Money?
September 27, 2009
The good people of Hungary are facing a terrible economic crisis. No
country it seems has been spared the fate of an economic recession – and
obviously some countries have been hit harder than others. But no one is
immune. In Hungary, there are very few jobs out there for people to take
advantage of, and those that are out there are not paying nearly enough. The
average monthly income in Hungary is only $640, which is no where enough
money to feed your family on.
However, some people in Hungary have turned to poker instead. They have
found that it is possible to make a decent living by turning to the poker
tables. Peter Traply is one Hungarian who has decided not to enter the race
for a not so good job at little pay, and instead has turned his focus to
poker.
What is interesting about this is that he is not alone. The Poker
Association of Hungary says that there are roughly 50,000 people in Hungary
playing poker to try and make ends meet. In addition to this, about 200,000
residents are playing online poker as well. With Hungary's unemployment at
nearly 10%, it is no wonder that people are turning to poker and other
avenues to try and make some money.
Traply has made more than $531,000 each year at poker tables around the
world and online, and says that he has no intention on stopping. He wants to
know why he would stop when he is making so much more money at poker that he
would with any job he was able to get in his homeland? But the economic
crisis showing no signs of stopping, poker has become almost a national
pastime or the country.
