What are the Good and Bad for No Limit Poker?
September 27, 2009
No matter where you go, there are usually two main types of poker games.
You usually have your choice between limit and no limit when it comes to
poker. But many players don't really know which the better option for them
when playing poker is. There are pros and cons to either type of game, and
it is really up to the player as to which kind is better for them.
The difference in the games is in their names, limit poker means that there
are betting limits in the game. No limit poker never limits what the players
can bet or raise, which obviously makes for a much more expensive game. With
limit poker each game limits the amount of money that you're allowed to
wager. The limits are equivalent for initial wagers and raises alike, with
betting limits doubled once the game progresses.
With no limit, players can wage as much as they want at any time, as long as
they have the chips. Players can bet all of their chips if they choose,
whereas in limit they cannot. Many players like the safety of limit poker,
because they cannot lose all that much money. They know what the maximum is
that they can lose, and won't get caught up in a bidding war. With no limit,
players often find themselves trying to win, and thus betting more than they
should.
If you have the money, the cards, and the skills, then no limit might be the
place for you. The amount of money that you can win a seemingly endless,
which is what makes it so popular amongst your richer players. But be aware,
for you will lose much more money in a no limit game than you would in one
with a limit.
