September 29, 2009
The World Poker Tour Borgata has a winner. More than 1,018 poker players
entered this event to try and get the main prize of almost $1 million. As
with any poker tournament of this size and stature, you're going to get some
of the best players in the business at the tables.
This tournament was attended by some easily recognizable poker names as well
as some newbies. The poker tournament was televised so those people who
could not be in person had an opportunity to watch the game. The six man
final table game came up down to Oliver Busquet in the lead followed by
Jeremy Brown, Ivan Mamuzic, Yanick Brodeur, Keith Crowder and Kenny Nguyen.
Each of the men left with a six-figure payout, but Oliver took the top prize
of $925,514. Oliver earned the money in what was undoubtedly a difficult
game. He managed to hold on to his chip lead for most of the poker game even
though he was really being battered by the players around him. His main
opponent was Brown who took out most of the opposition.
Finally, with it down to Oliver and Brown it ended with a 153 hand heads up
play where Brown took a 3 to 1 chip dominance in the game. However Oliver
played some key hands and won them to finally take the first prize and
title. Brown did not go home empty-handed however, as he took: $453,519 for
second prize. Those in attendance said that those final rounds between the
two men were some of the best poker playing they had scene in a long time.
