Online Cheating at Poker?
September 29, 2008
Some would wonder how it would be possible to cheat at poker, but it does
happen. The more poker players out there that try to cheat the system
however, the more the online poker sites find ways of thwarting them in
their attempts. This goes doubly true for online poker sites – where they
might try cheating their players, but they won’t get away with it for long.
Gene Gioia likes to play poker. However, he was noticing that some of the
poker hands that he was seeing online just didn’t seem plausible, and he
suspected that you would not see them at a live table. So, having a
background as a consultant in charge of auditing software installations for
nationwide companies, he decided to come up with a way of finding out if the
hands were possible by dealing actual cards.
He and his brother made a machine that would continuously shuffle and deal
cards at a high speed. Then the results went to computers as if they were
real games. The hands are dealt and recorded, and Gioia is going to use the
results to find out if there is a glitch, purposeful or not, in the poker
system.
He is planning on opening his own poker site, as he says that players will
like the fact that he uses his own cards instead of a random number
generator. He says that this makes it more like a real poker game and
players will appreciate that.
