Poker Champion
September 26, 2008
The 2008 Borgata Poker Open has a winner. Vivek Rajkumar is the winner of
this year’s poker tournament. The 22 year old winner just took home a $1.4
million first place prize – and is assuredly happier than ever.
Rajkumar has been mostly an online poker player up until now, and hasn’t
much experience with tournament play. However, not only did he do well in
the tournament, but many thought that it was his experience as an online
poker player that gave him an edge over his competition.
Rajkumar eliminated several of them almost immediately. It was the last day
of the Poker Open, and after six hands Andrew Knee was the first to go. He
got $237,500 for coming in sixth place.
Then it was Mark Seif’s turn to go, with $287,500 in his pocket. Nine hands
later he dropped Jason Strochak, who left with $337,500. Now down to three,
World Series bracelet owner Dan Heimiller was the next to go. He took home
$387,500.
Rajkumar took Sang Kim in just six hands of play. Kim took $750,000 for the
second place poker finish. This just happened to be the most Kim has ever
won, with the Seattle, Washington based Rajkumar taking first place.
