Poker Site Founder Murdered
August 14, 2009
Andreas Oscarsson was the founder of PokerListings.com. The site has been
a long time popular site and made a lot of people very rich. It was one of
the first sites to explore the idea of affiliates and as other online poker
and casino sites took notice they all made big profits off of the idea of
them. This small idea turned out to be a big money maker for an originally
small group of investors who believed in this idea from the beginning.
However, Oscarsson has been found dead in his house, shot to death. On
August 3rd, Oscarsson was found in his bedroom with his two year old son
still in the house. The police said that the son was fine. Oscarsson was
visiting his home that he had in Sweden and normally resided in New York.
Sweden was his native country, and he had kept a home there after he left.
The police say that it looks like the poker king’s killing was a
professional hit. The poker magnate had supposedly been getting threats for
some time and that these death threats may have been coming from the person
who finally did them in. According to Bluff Magazine Europe he may have been
a target as early as a year ago. They say that a man bearing the same name
was killed last year and they are speculating that the poker king may have
been the target.
The poker magnate’s wife had not come on the trip – instead she had stayed
home in New York and his son had come alone.
