Microgaming is in a Bit of Trouble
August 27, 2009
Microgaming is easily one of the biggest and most popular online poker
and online casino software companies out there today. When other companies
have reported losses or that they are having a hard time of it – Microgaming
keeps plugging along with seemingly few worries. However, much to the shock
of many people, it would seem that they are not invulnerable after all.
The company has announced that they have lost two of their poker licenses.
Some say that it stems from the poker accounts that were seized by the
government, and some say that it has more to do with the 141 online gambling
domains that the government of Kentucky seized last year.
Either way, they have lost two of their poker sites, which means that 30
skins have been dissolved as well. Poker players say that they were aware
that the poker sites were having some difficulties but that they had no idea
that it was bad enough that they had to close their doors. This was a big
shock to them and the rest of the poker community.
They have dissolved their Eurolinx and BetonBet Poker sites and left many
clients disappointed that enjoyed them. Some say that Microgaming might want
to follow the lead of other poker companies that are having problems as well
– and that have gone through restructuring to try and keep their company
running until the economy changes direction. They say that CryptoLogic,
another very large online poker company, just went through the same thing
and it might behoove them to follow suit.
