It is Up to the Locals

August 27, 2009

It is up to the individual villages, cities and counties as to whether or not they will allow video poker machines to be offered at their bars and restaurants. Some currently allow the poker machines to be there, while others ban them. However, the government is wondering if they might be able to change the point of view of more of them so that they get more video poker in the state than they currently have.

The state capital has passed a bill that would have more video poker machines in the state and by allowing them they would have more money for the various construction projects that the state is facing. They need $31 billion for the projects and are hoping that their citizens will help them pay for it.

Well Hampshire is on the list of places that are currently considering bringing in the poker machines, and they say that they should have a decision within the next month or two. They say that they are going to ask for input from their residents to see who is interested in bringing them in and who is dead set against them.

They say that they are aware of the good that they can do, but they also know that there are problems associated with poker, or any form of gambling and are not sure if they want to open that can of worms. They are going to have a public meeting where they are going to ask people to come and let their opinions known, and they say that right now they are leaning toward legalizing the poker machines, but that they are willing to listen to the other side.
