Poker Player Extraordinaire
August 13, 2009
Katie Jain is not your normal poker player. She is more like a Type A
poker player who is not just content with the poker playing and winning, she
needs more. She likes playing poker, she reads poker books, she watches
poker shows, and does well at the game when she plays.
However, all of this was not enough for her and so she has immersed herself
in the world of poker just a little bit more. She is the co-founder of JAQ
Cellars – the official wine of the World Series of Poker. They offer eight
different varieties of win for your palate and it has been a hit ever since
they unveiled it last November.
Jain has always liked poker, and so when the opportunity presented itself
she was ready to be a part of it. Jain and her co-founder Joel Templin
teamed up with Craig MacLean to create the wine and decided that they wanted
a poker theme to it. As a company they realized that nothing like this had
been done before and because of that they felt that they had a niche in a
particular market that others did not have.
They had their formal debut at the poker Main Event last month and they say
that they picked up a ton of new customers – with many of them being poker
professionals. They wanted to make sure that poker was as popular as they
thought it was and had done a lot of research on the topic, but they said
that once people at the poker main event saw them they knew that they had a
sure fire hit.
