Women’s Poker Tour
July 6, 2009
The World Poker Tour is pleased to announce that they have expanded their
poker lineup. They are now launching an all female poker league that will go
by the name of World Poker Tour Ladies – also known as WPT Ladies or WPTL.
The poker tour is a big deal for those women who like to play poker but is
either tired of watching the men get all the glory, or are intimidated to
play without more women at the table.
The WPTL will have five stops, two of which will be over on the West Coast –
Los Angeles and San Jose, in California; they will have two East Coast stops
in Atlantic City, New Jersey and Mashantucket, Rhode Island; and one in Las
Vegas. The buy ins for the poker games will range from $300 to $1,500 plus
entry fee – and it just depends on the location as to how much you will pay.
The fifth and final stop will be at the Bellagio in Las Vegas and it will be
both filmed and aired on the Game Show Network. They have also paired up
with the Susan G. Komen for the Cure so that 15% of the poker championship
will go to the fight against breast cancer. In addition, all players will
have the ability to make donations at each of the poker events if they
choose to.
They will play at the Borgata Hotel Casino in Spa in Atlantic City first,
then on to the Commerce Casino in Los Angeles. From there they head to Bay
101 in San Jose, and then Foxwoods Resort & Casino in Mashantucket. Then
they finally end up at the Bellagio for the final poker show down.
