Everybody Loves a Poker Run
July 14, 2009
Poker runs are not only a great way to play poker, and a lot of fun, but
they are also a terrific way to raise money for a good cause. Poker runs are
traditionally used to raise money for some sort of charity, and the bikers
really get behind it because it lets them ride their bikes and play poker at
the same time.
This particular poker run is to benefit the Patriot Guard Riders and it is
the second year that the Red Eye Bar is holding it. Last year it was so
popular and successful that they expect it will out do last year’s amounts.
Riders will start at the Red Eye Bar located at 61st and State Avenue in
KCK. You will have the option of purchasing a breakfast there if you
want, and then heading out – with the first biker leaving at 11 am.
The poker run will come back around to the Red Eye Bar, but only after
stopping at Helen’s Hilltop on McClouth Road, Chief’s Bar and Grill on
Merriam Lane, and Jamie’s Place on Metropolitan. Then you head on back to
the Red Eye to see who won. Poker hands are $10 each or $15 for two. Once
back at the bar you will be treated to Final Drive taking the stage.
Bikers and poker players must be 21 to enter, and no one goes home empty
handed. There will be all kinds of giveaways at the stops, so you can pick
up something besides a poker hand. They will have a 50/50 drawing, with half
of the proceeds going to the charity.
