Poker Picking Up

July 7, 2009

Many online poker sites say that they really were starting to feel the economy. It is no wonder that they would, for they have really seen the best of it so far. People who used to travel to go to a poker game in Las Vegas or Atlantic City are saving their money and going to an online poker room instead. Therefore, when the economy started getting bad, the online poker rooms found themselves doing better than ever.

Then the economy caught up with them and those people who could not afford to keep playing poker online started to drift away. They found that they needed their money for crazy things like mortgages and food, and poker took a distant third behind them. But things may be changing again for the poker industry.

Many of the poker sites say that their early June was especially slow, and much of that had to do with the poor economy. But then there was also the fact that the government seized poker winnings from players and many of them ran from the industry for fear of losing their winnings or being prosecuted by the US government. However, poker players are a tough bunch and they vowed to come back, and come back they did.

Poker sites say that the end of June is already starting to look like it is going to be a much better month than planned. They say that somewhere around the middle of the month, the poker industry saw players coming back as they realized that they could still play.
