Ivey’s Going to the Final Table
July 28, 2009
There are certain names that you are undoubtedly familiar with in the
poker world – and Phil Ivey is one of them. He is a professional poker
player, the likes of which many can not compare to. That is why it is no
surprise that he would move to the final table of the World Series of Poker
2009 to be played in November.
Interestingly enough, however, for all of his skill and all of his talent –
Ivey has never won the Main Event at the WSOP. Ivey says that he is hoping
for a win this time, and that he is not underestimating any of the players
that are going to be at the table with him. One of those players is Darvin
Moon – a logger from Maryland. Moon will have the hefty chip lead when they
meet up again in November, and Ivey says that it does not matter what a
person does for a living – everyone is capable of playing a great game of
poker.
Out of more than six thousand entries, only nine will sit at the final poker
table, and each will talk away with at least $1.26 million for making the
final nine. The longer you stay in the more you win, with the top place
winner walking away with $8.55 million. Each of the players handed over
their poker chips which were sealed in large plastic bags for secure storage
until November. They have already received their checks for the $1.26
million.
Moon is excited to be in the poker game for the first time – and says that
he can’t wait until November. He was planning on flying home right after the
last poker table, but then they told him to wait for his million dollar
check.
