Foley Wins Big in Poker Event
July 9, 2009
Ray Foley is a regular guy. Foley works as a business manager at Chrysler
Financial in Northville Township, and just loves to play poker. Foley
graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a degree in accounting and
also has his MBA. But Foley is a secret professional poker player in that he
loves to play and travels to Vegas every year to compete in the World Series
of Poker.
Well, this was Foley’s year and he played in Event 39 of the WSOP, and left
a winner – a big winner. Foley says he has been playing poker ever since he
was a kid and was pleased that he was able to take home the big prize of
$657,969 this year. He says that June 23rd was obviously his lucky day.
Playing the no limit poker game was both exciting and rewarding for Foley,
and he could not have been more pleased by his win. Foley has come by his
wins honestly and with hard work. He is part of a thirty man poker league
that sends their top nine men out to Vegas each year to play at the $2,000
buy in event at the WSOP.
First he won the $1,500 buy in event, and played in seven events. He has won
four cash prizes and they have ranged in all kinds of amounts. Last month he
got his top prize as well as his first bracelet, making him thrilled beyond
words. He says that playing poker really challenges him, and he loves the
sport, and winning at it isn’t so bad either.
