America’s Cup of Poker
July 29, 2009
America’s Cup of Poker, hosted by Poker Stars, will be held in Argentina
as announced by the company. Players from all over the Americas – North,
South and Central – will be converging on the area to see if they can take
the poker title. The poker event will be in two stages – one basically a
qualifying round and the other a live tournament setting.
Sixteen countries will send their players to Argentina to play in three
weeks of poker tournaments that will have buy ins from $.20 to $5.50 as well
as free rolls. They will start on Monday, July 27th and will continue
through August 16th. The countries will go head to head with each other to
see who will come out on top. The top 100 finishers in any event will gain
points and move on.
Each week the countries go head to head with another opponent until every
country had gone against each other. All of the players for each country
will have their poker points tallied together and the country at the end of
the match will be declared the winner. At the end of all the tournaments the
two countries that have the most points will move forward to the live
tournament.
The excitement sets in as they get closer and closer to their chance of
getting to that final round. Each of the eight teams that end up at the
final poker round will have five players – and they will be the ones that
ended up with the most points at the end of the rounds. These teams will
then have a Team Poker Stars Pro added in to help them. They will all
compete for their portion of the $250,000 prize pool.
