Tiffany Michelle Eliminated
July 17, 2008
With Tiffany Michelle being eliminated from the 2008 World Series of Poker
main event, this means that there will be no female competitors at the final
table this year. Many had pinned their hopes on Michelle being at the final
round, but as she was eliminated yesterday that is no longer a possibility.
Michelle was in 17th place when eliminated, but this does not mean that she
is going home empty handed. In fact, she leaves with an impressive $334,534.
She has been playing very well over the past few weeks and many thought she
had a good shot at winning the whole thing.
In 2006, Michelle had a cash of $1,285 – so this is her second of her
career. It seems that it was an off day for the player, she started with an
impressive size of chips but it just kept dwindling over the course of the
day. Finally she flopped top pair on a flop of A-10-9 which took her out of
the game. She pushed all in as her A-J was dominated by Peter Eastgate with
pocket Aces.
She needed a runner-runner straight to win, and unfortunately the turn was a
five of hearts putting her out of the game. ESPN was one of those that were
particularly pulling for her to get to the final table, and with the number
of marketing pieces that had been flying about over the weekend it was
obvious that they weren’t alone in their thinking.
Many don’t know what Michelle’s next turn will be – but suffice it to say
there are many disappointed poker players out there today.
