Poker Run
for Charity
July 27, 2008
The North
Thibodaux Fire Company Number One is working hard to make poker work for
them. They are hosting the first Annual Poker Run for Fun on July 26th. All
of the money raised from the poker event will go to support the fire
department.
Registration for the event will start that same day, and will start at 8 am
and end at 10 am. Poker participants will be registering at the station,
located at 699 St. Patrick Highway, Thibodaux.
David LeBlanc is the station keeper and one of the organizers of the poker
event, and he says that not only can everyone participate, but it doesn’t
even matter what you drive. You can use cars, bikes, etc. it doesn’t matter.
Registration is $20 for riders and drivers, and $15 for each passenger.
The first bike leaves at 9 am, and the last at 10 am. Last bike in will come
around 2 pm. The top three poker hands will win cash and participants will
be able to bid on a silent auction as well.
The fire house is always looking for ways to make money, and a poker run
seemed to be the best way for them to do so. This way they think the public
can participate and it can truly be a community event.
