Poker
After Dark
July
31, 2008
The NBC
show Poker After Dark was initially shunned by many saying that it would not
hold the interest of the majority of the American public. They said that
putting it on a major television channel was a mistake – that it was better
suited to something like Bravo or ESPN.
However, they could not have been more wrong about that. It has turned out
to be one of the most interesting shows out there, and has gained quite the
following. Each week they try and come up with something unique, and are
mostly successful at it.
They have had couples play against each other; turning it to a high stakes
cash game, etc. But now they have made it even more exciting for poker fans
by having four NBC National Heads-Up Poker Championship winners go head to
head.
They are having Paul Wasicka, Phil Hellmuth, Chris Ferguson and Ted Forrest
play for a $50,000 winner take all tournament. They are playing heads up in
a randomly drawn match up. They will play each other with them eliminating
two each of the first games, and then those two winners will face each other
in the finale.
The match begins July 28th at 2:05 am Monday night and will run for five
consecutive nights. The Director’s Cut will air Saturday, August 2nd at 1 am
after Saturday night live.
