One of the best
known online poker rooms has just signed a deal with pro poker
player Humberto Brenes that adds him to PokerStars.com’s all
star poker team line-up. Brenes is now the latest poker player
to join Team PokerStars. The online casino poker room has
announced that his very first appearance on the poker team will
be in the 2006 WSOP. He will actually be playing for the online
poker room’s poker team all during the entire year, but he will
debut at this year’s massive World Series of Poker in Vegas that
is ready to start soon.
Many online
poker players out there know Humberto Brenes to be the
Godfather of Costa Rican Players. This man has also won 2
gold bracelets from the WSOP in the past. He has earned cash
money winnings in more than forty poker tourneys.
His dynamic
game play as well as his passion for the game of poker will sit
him well with the existing other Team PokerStars players. As a
competitor, he is amazing to watch. He instills a certain fear
in many of his poker playing opponents. He has played poker
since he was a very young boy and go the hang of the game from
his own father in Costa Rica growing up. When he first started
to gamble in casinos, he would play baccarat in Bahamas casinos.
Once he started gaining a true sense of gaming odds, he switched
to poker.
Many of our
online poker new article readers out there may know this poker
player by his outlandish, if not brightly colored attire, at the
poker table. He has a flare for the game and is a skilled player
with years of experience at his side.
His colleges
know him as the poker player that bounded onto the poker scene
in 2002, his breakout year where it all started to come together
for him professionally. In 2002, he finished 1st in
the Jack Binion World Poker Open championship in Tunica. This
win nabbed him more than a half million dollars. The next year,
he came in 2nd placed at the LA Invitational. Then,
two years ago, he came in 2nd in the Bellagio's Five Diamond
World Poker Classic. Also in 2004, he came in 3rd at
the Foxwood's Poker Classic with winnings totaling more than
$1.5 million.
While clearly a
great poker player, he also holds a degree in industrial
engineering from the University of Costa Rica. He does more than
just kick butt at a poker table; he is a successful businessman,
too. He previously owned a few companies and several restaurants
in the past as well. These days, when not playing poker he runs
the nut company he owns in Costa Rica.
He helps with
charities and local community improvement projects. This shows
that he is not all about winning the money, but the game itself.
This is one
player to watch at this year’s WSOP for sure.
