Twitter and the World Series of
Poker
June

Perhaps it is just that we
thought that there was at least one place where Twitter had not yet
infiltrated – but we would have been wrong in that assumption. Twitter has
indeed entered into every part of the world – and now it has entered into
the world of poker. The World Series of Poker is not even immune to the
power of the Twitter and that has as much to do with the players as
anything.
Fans are thrilled at the idea of their favorite poker players Twittering
away while playing at the game. They love the fact that the players will be
tweeting about what they are doing, or what they are thinking, thus pulling
the spectators into the poker game in a way that they have not done before.
This is a chance for the poker watchers to be a part of the action, instead
of on the outskirts.
Not all poker players tweet – and some of those that do you don’t really
want to listen to. There is a skill involved in tweeting that just not every
poker player is aware of. Some talk too much, some not at all – and some
have other people do the tweeting for them. Phil Ivey has a team of people
who do the updates for him, and Scotty Nguyen has his wife do it.
All you have to do is go to Twitter and open a free account. Then find your
favorite poker stars and start “following” them and you will get poker
updates as they send them. This way as you are watching the game and reading
what they have to say, you will get a never before seen of the real inside
of the World Series of Poker.
