LaBlond Takes Poker Honors
June
9, 2009
Benjamin LaBlond is pleased as
punch with himself today as he is the winner of one of the biggest poker
championships out there today. After a long and heated battle with another
player, LaBlond is the winner of the 2009 Canadian Open Poker Championship
and he could not be happier.
Many thought that Jeff Madsen would take the win, and it looked very close
for a long time. Of course, Madsen is no stranger to winning at poker. He
has won before, and has won big. He is a two time World Series of Poker
bracelet winner and is also the 2006 World Series of Poker player of the
year. It is no wonder that many thought that he would win this one as well.
However, LaBlond surprised everyone when he came from what everyone thought
was truly the edge of elimination to the big win. The Calgary event paid him
a handsome $100,000 making LaBlond not only a surprise winner, but a
surprised winner as well. He says that he thought that he would do well, but
when he was down he was sure that it was over but just kept fighting.
LaBlond had a series of double ups where he took the lead over Madsen and
some say that he played the game of his life. Those around the table said
that he was one heck of a poker player, and he should be very proud of his
win. We are sure that LaBlond is very proud indeed.
