Phil Ivey Wins Again
June
12, 2009
There is a special place in the
poker hall of fame for Phil Ivey. This is a man who is not only unarguably
one of the best poker players in the world, but is also a man who every time
you think he might be down he comes back stronger than ever. Not only does
Ivey enjoy the game, but he is also a strong and intimidating poker player.
Those that play poker know that he is absolutely fierce in his playing of
the game. He plays against people who are deemed smarter, richer, tougher –
it doesn’t matter as he has already beaten them all and will continue to do
so. He has just showed them all what he is capable again by winning his
sixth World Series of Poker bracelet last week.
Ivey has already won World Series of Poker championships in pot-limit Omaha,
SHOE, seven card stud, and seven card stud high-low split. It would appear
that he has the ability to win at any poker game that he puts his mind to,
and that theory has not been proven wrong yet. Daniel Negreanu is easily one
of the best poker players as well, but cannot be compared to Phil Ivey.
Negreanu has several wins in the 2009 World Series of Poker as well, and is
seemingly on a roll as of late. He has been known for some big meltdowns
during High Stakes Poker, but overall is still a strong player and a force
to be reckoned with. The battle between the two men should remain to be
seen.
