Bodog is Back and Better Than
Ever
June
14, 2009
As far as poker sites go there
are those that are more popular not only because they have a good name
behind them and a quality to their customer service and commitment to their
clients – but because they are just fun to be a part of. The online poker
room Bodog has always been one of those sites. They always seemed like there
was a poker party going on and you were invited.
Then 1st Technology and Bodog went head to head in a legal battle for the
domain name where 1st Technology was awarded the rights to it. The poker
site then had to relocate to NewBodog.com, and then it moved to
BodogLife.com. However, they never stopped competing and fighting to get
back the Bodog poker name that they felt that they had earned and that they
deserved.
Calvin Ayre, the CEO of Bodog at the time, said that they would never stop
fighting for the return of the poker domain name. Ayre said that the poker
domain was theirs and they he was confident that in the end they would be
triumphant over 1st Technologies. Ayer said that their CEO Scott Lewis was a
“patent troll” but unfortunately did not see the poker name restored while
he was CEO.
Instead, Alwyn Morris, CEO of Morris Mohawk Gaming Group, who is the
exclusive licensee of the Bodog brand for the US saw the name change under
his control. The official switch was made on June 11th and Bodog is back to
running things they way they want under the correct name. The poker site
said that they could not be happier and that they want to thank those people
who stuck with them through all of this.
