Where in the US is Good to Play
Poker?

With the passage of the Unlawful
Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006, many thought that they could no
longer participate in online poker playing. However, ask any poker
aficionado and you will find a very different story. According to experts,
poker playing is not illegal, it never was, and the UIGEA did not make it
so. However, it made processing of payments to online gambling sites
illegal.
Now several judges have since ruled that poker playing is not gambling and
that it is a skill based game, but where does that leave the average poker
player. They are not sure where, or even if, they can play poker without
breaking the law. They can however, play, but they have to be smart about
where they play.
It is generally better to play at a site that you recognize the name, and
Bodog is one of those sites. The poker site has a reputation for being a
safe and secure place to play poker, and they have remained in the industry
even after many of their players from the US were afraid to play and much of
their competition defected.
The online poker room says that their main purpose is to simply make sure
that all of their players are having a good time. They are not as popular a
site as Absolute Poker though; they have lost some of their luster. With so
much talk of cheating scandals at the popular poker site, many players have
switched to other sites because they are concerned about confidentiality and
security at their site.
But there are many other poker sites out there as well, and you simply have
to type in poker to find them. However, we recommend that you Google poker
reviews and check out places like Online Gambling Insider and see what they
think of a site before you try it out. If you go with a poker site that has
gotten their certification you will be protected by them if something goes
wrong.
