New Poker Show

NBC has announced their plans to
televise Face the Ace. There have been rumblings about the show for some
time, and poker fans are excited to see that the show is finally setting a
day and time for them to watch it.
The show will be hosted by Steve Schirripa and will air at 9:00 p.m. on
August 1st. Schirripa is best known for his role of Bobby Baccalieri on the
show The Sopranos. The show will eventually be moved to a Sunday afternoon
slot in September, but they are initially airing it on a Friday night so as
to really get the word out.
The show will have four doors, and behind each one is a professional poker
player. The competitor will pick one of the doors and then play against the
pro that steps out. If they win they get two choices – take the money and
run, or risk losing their pot to another poker professional by choosing
another door.
The show is being produced by Poker Productions, who many will recognize as
the name behind the Poker After Dark franchise that NBC is already running.
They will run for seven episodes initially and then increase them from there
if it turns out to be popular.
If the poker player beats the second player, they can choose a third, and if
they beat them they get one million dollars. But it involves risking
everything that you have won up until now –for if at any point you lose, you
walk away with nothing. The poker company is excited because there aren’t
any other shows like this right now, and they are sure that they are going
to spawn several copy cats.
