Playtech's New Launch
May
12, 2009
Playtech has been offering play for fun poker on the Italian Poker Network,
but after seeing how popular it is they have decided to start offering play
for real mode on the poker network. Playtech has long been recognized as one
of the big names in online casino and poker software, and this is a prime
opportunity for them to expand their market base.
The poker site has signed license agreements with several leading Italian
operators - Snai s.r.l., Gala Coral's Eurobet Italia SpA , Sisal SpA and
Cogetech SpA – all of whom are not offering their play for real money poker
products.
The online poker site has long been popular in Italy since they entered the
arena. They wanted to see how they would be received before they moved
forward making it a more permanent online poker site. They say that they
worked closely with the various Italian regulatory agencies to ensure a
smooth transfer and to design a site that they knew would appeal to all
areas of the country.
They are using their standard poker software, but they have tweaked it so
that it is even more appealing. The software provider is aware that there
are many locations across the world that play poker and that they all like
to play the game a certain way. They wanted to ensure that they were
offering the Italians something that they would really enjoy.
Their CEO Mor Weizer says that he is thrilled with the expansion because he
knows that not only do Italians love their poker, but that they get to be a
part of that. They say that they are working to be completely compliant and
that they feel like they really have a “foothold” in the market now.
