Maybe Your Mother Should Play

When talking about what makes a good poker player, it would seem that mother’s might just have what it takes to play the game and play it well. Poker playing is an art form, and there are many characteristics that you need in order to make poker playing successful for you. It just so happens that there are those same qualities as close as your own mother.

One of the biggest things that moms have that poker players need is patience. Think about it – your mother probably had infinite patience when dealing with you and the stuff you pulled as a child. This infinite amount of patience that they seem to have is necessary when waiting to make your move at the poker table, and when to hold back.

How about being able to read your fellow players? Indeed, what poker player would not be helped by being able to look at the other players and know exactly when you are lying? Mother’s have this innate ability – and it could come in very handy at the poker table. How do you explain the fact that poker players spend a lot of time studying each other, trying to figure out who is bluffing and who isn’t? A mother would know in ten seconds.

And last but certainly not least – the ability to control a situation. One of the biggest things you need to know is how to handle those people around you – and if you have ever hosted a play date at your house – you know how to handle those people around you. If you can handle little children you can certainly handle those nine men sitting around a table.

So next time you are planning on going to Vegas, you might just want to give your mom a call – and oh, yeah, your money too.
