Cheadle Plays for Charity
May
21, 2009
Many know actor Don Cheadle from
his comedies like the Oceans movies, and others know him from his more
serious pieces like Hotel Rwanda. But still others know him as a poker
player and as a humanitarian. Cheadle is well known for his ability to play
poker, but he is also known for starting the charity Ante Up for Africa.
Full Tilt Poker has decided to take advantage of his softer side and they
have offered him a chance to play poker for them with the money going to his
charity. Every time he is playing on the site he will appear in red. Cheadle
started the charity with another famous poker player Annie Duke. Duke
recently played in the Celebrity Apprentice where she came very close to
winning $250,000 for her charity.
The players are excited to have this opportunity to bring in more money for
their charity. They have already been able to award more than two million
dollars in donations to various humanitarian efforts in the Sudan. The pair
play numerous poker events to raise money for their charity and so far they
are doing very well for themselves.
Cheadle says that he is aware that he has done alright so far in the various
poker tournaments that have been televised, and a few that haven’t been. He
is however, hoping that at some point he will be able to play in the World
Series of Poker for that would truly help his charity a lot.
