Fenton Big Poker Winner
April 28, 2009
Karl “DiscoMonkey” Fenton is the big winner at the Main Event of PKR Live
II. Fenton beat out 149 of the world’s best online poker players to win the
poker event and he could not be more thrilled. He walked away with $20,000
in winnings, leaving Simon “TigerWing” Wing in the second place spot.
Fenton was playing at London’s Loose Cannon Club, and the winning hand was a
pocket Queen/ten off suit that defeated Wing’s Ace/nine pairing, with a pair
of Queens on the board. The two men have been friends a long time, so
although each wanted to win, they didn’t mind losing to the other.
For his effort, Wing won $12,000 for second place – which is a pretty good
return on your investment. The poker tournament was a $500 buy in, and the
next largest prize went to “AnnDay” with $8,500. The amounts varied from
there, going increasingly smaller down to “Jaam69” in ninth place.
All of the players said that they had a great time at the poker table, and
Fenton said that it was “one of the best, most enjoyable and most successful
weekends” he has ever had in his life. He says that he felt that the support
that he received during the event was invaluable and that it was an “honor”
to play at the table.
The poker event was not only the hot ticket to play in, it was also the one
to watch. The new Team PKR Pro had their first outing and many wanted to see
how the poker professionals would be playing. The team did very well, with
Andrew Teng and Ray O’Mahoney really pulling out all the stops to pull ahead
of the other team members.
