Poker Not Doing Well, But the Rest of it is
April 14, 2009
888 Holdings is one of those online poker and gambling giants that seems to
do no wrong. It is very rare that they launch something that doesn’t do
extremely well, and honestly they have so many other pots out there that it
doesn’t really matter if it doesn’t. They work hard to consistently bring
their clients a ton of games that are not only fun to play, but are also so
diverse in their selection that you would be hard pressed to find something
that you didn’t like.
They have however; found that their poker game is not doing as well as it
could have been doing. They have always found that their poker rooms
actually do really well, but many think that because of the decline in the
economy that they are just not doing as well as they would have been doing
otherwise. Online poker playing has dropped across the board, so it is no
wonder that they are feeling the pinch along with everyone else.
However, even if their poker room is not doing so well, their other holdings
are doing really well. They have shown a 6% increase in their profits. They
say that this increase more than offsets the less than perfect returns they
have been getting from their poker site. They say that there are many
reasons why their poker room is not doing as well, with the economy
definitely playing a part in it.
They say that there has also been a plethora of online poker rooms that have
flooded the internet especially since President Obama took office. Industry
executives say that there is no question that the poker market is over
saturated right now, which is leading to less income at those poker sites
that were previously around. But they expect that to change as the economy
changes and as consumers realize which are good sites to play at and which
ones aren’t.
