Poker for Charity
April 15, 2009
Vanessa Rousso is one of those poker players that are the “one to watch”
kind of players. The poker player quickly made a name for herself in the
poker industry with her quick thinking and excellent game play. Now she is
branching out and making a name for herself in the charity realm as well,
and has started her own charitable organization to help those in need.
The poker player says that she started No Limit No Profit Initiative last
year because she wanted to make a difference. Rousso said that she could see
the effect that poverty was having on people around the world and wanted to
do what she could to stop it. She says that since she is not in a profession
like being a doctor, it wasn’t as though she could save lives in that kind
of way – but she knew that she could save them another way.
She says being a poker player is a lot of fun, and is a “selfish” way of
making a living, or at least sometimes it feels that way. So she knew that
in order to “balance” out her life, she decided that she had to “do some
good in the world” which is how the NLNPI started. She is dedicating herself
to see how she can change the world through the organization.
She says that their mission is to support causes that are having an impact
on poverty around the world. They are working to help those in the most
vulnerable populations rise up against it. She is playing for the NLNPI in
her various poker tournaments which is helping her raise awareness for her
cause and to raise money for it as well.
