Winning or
Losing – Either Way You Win
March 10, 2009
When people think
about poker tournaments, they often do not think of the amount of
money out there that is available to those that don’t win. Quite
often in a poker tournament, the amount of money that it won is top
dollar for the top spot, but the amount of money that the runners up
get is nothing to sneeze at.
The top winner obviously gets the most, but the second and third
place winners, and many times even more than that, also get big
bucks too. They find that they will get millions of dollars if the
top spot is that high as well, and many times they are almost as
pleased as the winner themselves.
This is no where more apparent than the recent win at the free
Ultimate Bet poker tournament. The top winner took $173,693.20,
while the second place finisher took $86,796.30. They beat out more
than 370 other players to take the top two spots, and both were
absolutely thrilled at the amount that they took home. The top
winner, QUANTOM47 had just registered his poker account a mere nine
days earlier – shocking even himself when he won.
They were playing Texas Hold’em at their Bad Beat Jackpot tables,
and the top winner was a nineteen year old from Alliston, Ontario,
Canada. He says that he was hoping to win big, and in trying he was
successful. He says that Phil Hellmuth is his idol and he was hoping
to win so that he could be one step closer to having the kind of
career that Hellmuth was so blessed to have.
