The PokerStars.com European
Poker Tour has a winner at their Copenhagen, Denmark stop. Jens Kyllönen
took the title from the leaders much to the surprise of many of them in
attendance. Norway’s Anders Langset and Denmark’s Rasmus Hede Nielsen were
considered the favorites to win because they had played so strongly the
previous two days. However, seemingly out of nowhere Kyllönen took the top
prize.
In fact, both Nielsen and Langset found themselves out of the poker game
before the heads-up duel had even been reached. Out of the upset Kyllönen
took the title and the winning prize of $1141,474. He was actually one of
the shortest stacks at the poker table and was expected to go out fairly
quickly because of the seemingly unbeatable top two.
Many of the popular international poker players actually found themselves
being eliminated fairly quickly – many on the first day. Obviously going out
early at the final poker table means you get something, even if it isn’t the
top prize of more than a million dollars. Denmark’s Jonas Klausen found
himself out but not empty handed. He walked away with $104,473 – which is
better than nothing.
Play continued with the various poker players being eliminated, and before
you knew it Kyllönen was moving quickly up the ranks with his chip pile
growing bigger and bigger with each passing play. He moved steadily and did
not take unnecessary chances, showing that slow and steady does win the
race. Truly the under dog he did well for himself in the end.
