Live Poker vs.
Online Poker
February 4, 2009
There are millions of people around the world who love to play poker. It
doesn’t matter what kind of poker for many of them just so long as they get
to play. They find themselves drawn to the cards and they play it in
basements, garages, casinos, online, etc. – for the forum is secondary to
the fact that they get to play. But some say that where you play is just as
important as what you play and how you play poker.
There are those who love to play poker live. They want to be in the casinos,
at the poker tournaments, etc. playing their favorite game. They don’t
understand those who would want to play online poker for they say that the
biggest part of the game is being live, in front of the other players. They
argue that there is a kind of camaraderie that comes from playing poker in a
group, and they say that the game is not as exciting as it could be if you
are in a room by yourself. They want to know how you can bluff or read
another’s “tells” when playing the game.
Those that play online poker however, say that you don’t need to read other
people to play. They say that poker is about the cards and when you are
online it is about your skill in playing the cards, not in playing the other
players. They say that it takes more skill to play online than it does to
play live because you don’t have the extra advantage of seeing your
opponents. They also do it because they like the solitary nature of playing
poker by themselves, without the other distractions of the additional
players.
No matter how you choose to play poker or who you play it with, the true
fact of the matter is that you should play it wherever makes you happy. If
you like people than live is for you, but if you can do without them, then
live poker might be a better bet.
